Symposium Goals
The goals of this symposium are multi-fold: 1) to
bring together scientists and policy makers to share their knowledge
about the state of biological invasions in their countries, as well
as their information on general invasion processes and the consequences,
detection and management of these species, 2) to assess the current
ability to predict future invasions by plants, insects, and another
animal groups that are faced by each country, 3) to compare the
ecology of invasive species in their native habitats as well as
invaded habitats as a means to develop more effective strategies
to address these serious environmental and economic problems, and
(4) to provide a productive forum for discussing research, management,
and policy associated with biological invasions and their management.
